When word came out a week ago that Galen Rupp was going to run the Foot Traffic Holiday Half, fans around the country speculated if Rupp's decision signaled the Nike Oregon Project runner would ultimately run the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in mid-February in Los Angeles.
While it's still uncertain whether Rupp will run or not, he easily cruised to victory Sunday morning in North Portland (at the adidas campus), winning in 1:01:20, a time that ranks him US#2 in 2015. Rupp's success over both the 10,000m track distance and the half marathon show he's more than capable of running an amazing marathon time, but if we had to guess, Rupp's half marathon was simply a way to break up the monotony of winter training.
