Portland Athletes ShinE Bright WORLDs
Mo Farah (Nike Oregon Project) kicked off the Portland-based medal count winning gold in the men's 10,000m, and followed it up with another 5,000m gold, but it was the surprise performance of Emily Infeld (Bowerman Track Club) that really got Portland track fans excited, as the young star (and reigning PTF 5k champion) grabbed bronze in the women's 10,000m.
The Bowerman Track Club had a good 20 minutes on August 24, as Infeld and Shalane Flanagan placed third and sixth in the 10,000m, followed by Daniel Huling and Evan Jager scoring 5-6 finishes in the 3,000m steeplechase.
And of course Ashton Eaton inspired the world, winning the decathlon title and breaking his own world record. His wife, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, won silver in the heptathlon.
